Summary: (Because I don't feel like trying a 7 page essay)
Clair went through a lot of shit growing up with her father being bat shit crazy,nearly killing her mom and basically calling Clair trash, her mother working herself to near death and losing her stepfather who cared most about her (other than her mom). This caused her to be antisocial and very insecure thus resulting in her being a loner with no friends for most of her life. As she grew up she began to appreciate herself more as she earned more true friends and learned she was valuable. Currently she is learning to control her eye powers, which allow her to see and manipulate the magic of things around her such as ponies, other living being, plants earth etc. Why she has this power no one knows but no other living earth pony seems to have it so she's learning how magical nukes/ miracle grow magic can be used correctly and not to totally destroy everything around her when she gets super mad or sad. The sparkles in her eyes are the stars she sees in other living beings being reflected off them... they'll stick around as long as she doesn't feel like shit. She's super good at camouflaging her feelings,  cares deeply for others, puts other's well being before her own, is super clumsy and hates to feel useless. At the same time she just loves to hang out with other ponies, sharing a laugh, having a good time... like any horse her age. She's also decent at drawing and junk but making cash off art is hard business so she works as a waitress to support herself. There's also a thing about her being really perceptive since her eyes can see star magic...

Basically, Clair can tell a changeling and a pony, who look exactly the same, apart because she can see their magic and Changeling magic is different from horse magic. She's kinda hard to earn the trust off as she's still really cautious from all the scars she's earned over her life but once that friendship is earned you won't find a pony more caring, affectionate and as understanding as her.
